1. Sennheiser HD 800 S

Sennheiser HD 800 S

We’ll keep it short and sweet, the Sennheiser HD 800 S are the best headphones that a regular person can buy in 2017. These headphones are a fresh take on Sennheiser’s classic HD 800 series. In addition to their new silver frame, they’re also lightweight, oh-so-comfortable, and give you top-notch sound quality. The 3D listening experience is immersive, detailed, and expansive. To put it simply, these headphones are the gold standard for sound.

While the design of these headphones may not be for everyone, the biggest downside is their price. They’re also not a great pair of headphones if you’re mostly looking to listen to your iPhone. Despite the fact that these are some of the most expensive headphones you can buy, their impeccable sound quality and fantastic design make them worth it.

2. Bose QuietComfort 35 II

Bose QuietComfort 35 II

There aren’t any other headphones that can shut out noise the way the Bose QuietComfort 35 II can. This reliable set of headphones retains the excellent Bluetooth sound, fantastic noise cancelling technology, and comfortable earpads of its predecessor. However, this version is integrated with Google Assistant. Now, you’re able to manage your calendar, messages, and notifications without having to take your phone out of your pocket.

Now, you’re able to manage your calendar, messages, and notifications without having to take your phone out of your pocket.

While its price tag doesn’t compare to that of the Sennheiser HD 800 S, these headphones will still make a dent in your wallet. A couple of other issues are Google Assistant being more useful for Android users than iOS users and the fact that their battery isn’t replaceable. Nevertheless, the Bose QuietComfort 35 II is still one of the smartest pairs of headphones on the market

3. Bose QuietComfort 35

Bose QuietComfort 35

The predecessor of the Bose QuietComfort 35 II that we talked about earlier, these wireless Bluetooth headphones include unrivalled noise cancellation technology that makes sure that you only hear your music. Its digital processing and equalization features give you a great listening experience. If you run out of battery, they can also be used in wired mode. This feature is perfect if you’re stuck on a cross-country flight.

The QuietComfort 35’s design isn’t exactly the fanciest, but Bose’s lack of style is nothing new. Besides the uninspired design, you’re not able to replace the headphones’ battery yourself and they’re also pretty pricey. Despite their price and boring design, the amazing noise cancellation feature still makes these headphones a worthwhile buy.

4. V-Moda Crossfade 2 Wireless

Just keep in mind that these headphones are a bit on the heavy side. So, they might not be right for you if you don’t like the feeling of wearing something on your head. 5. Sony MDR-1A

Sony MDR-1A

The Sony MDR-1A are among the most stylish headphones that Sony has ever made. They have a sleek, polished look that gives off a high-end vibe. These headphones are also much lighter than they look. Unfortunately, the MDR-1A’s don’t excel in the noise-cancelling department. That means that they’re not ideal for noisy environments. Their wired remote also lacks some functions and they can fall off your head easily. Still, the Sony MDR-1A are light, reliable headphones that will give you solid sound for the price.

6. Sony MDR-1000X

Sony MDR-1000X

This list wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the Sony MDR-1000X. While it faces some tough competition from other noise-cancelling headphones, Sony is making a big effort with the MDR-1000X. These headphones are equipped with what Sony calls a “Personal NC Optimizer.” This feature aims to personalize your noise-cancelling experience based on your face shape and hairstyle. The headphones themselves are also foldable and have nice touch controls to give you a more convenient listening experience.

Besides the touchpad taking some time to get used to, these headphones are definitely on the pricier side. The active noise cancelling technology comes close to what you’d get from Bose but they’re not on that level just yet. Overall, the MDR-1000X’s portability and solid sound quality make them worth the money.

Apart from the odd design, the Apple AirPods don’t exactly have the best sound quality. This is, in part, because they don’t have any noise cancelling features. Despite their shortcomings, the Apple AirPods still provide you with a decent listening experience plus a lot of features.
