The 3-Minute Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Review
Xiaomi’s Clever Notch Eliminator

Features & Design: 4/5 ● Performance: 4/5 ● Value: 4/5 ● Battery Life 4/5
The best part about this phone is the fact that it has a very small bezel footprint, making the screen appear to be very big and very desirable. The notch has been banished as well, making this an especially large display endowed smartphone. This has been achieved by creating a novel new selfie camera mechanism, which is spring-loaded and comes out of the top of the phone via a sliding platform that makes up the back of this device.
There are some minor issues with this device, the main ones being the slightly cheap feeling sliding mechanism, which is strong but feels a little weak when used extensively. There is only a USB 2.0 interface, which will limit your data transfer capabilities over a cable, but that is by no means a deal breaker.
Is it for you?
It is hard to imagine many people that wouldn’t fall in love with the design of this phone and its clever selfie camera mechanism. The screen size, lack of a notch and very small bezels make this a phone that is great for watching movies and videos.
Meet the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3
There are many other great features to like about this device, one of which is the internal components that this phone ships with. The phone configurations come with 6GB, 8GB and 10GB versions of RAM, and a Qualcomm SDM845 chipset. This makes for a really nippy smartphone experience that is very fast indeed.
What we like
The overall display is 6.39 inches and has an amazing 85% screen to body ratio, which makes this an especially effective device for consuming video content. The screen is a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, and is capable of displaying 16M colors.
There is a Corning Gorilla Glass version that is not specified, but seems to do a good job of keeping the screen safe. The overall video resolution that the video camera is capable of is 2160p@30/60fpd, which is great for budding home video makers.
Colors are also great in the range, with Jade Green, Sapphire Blue, Onyx Black and Forbidden City Blue being the main available colours for this range of device. The type C port is also a plus, even though it only operates at USB 2.0 levels.
What we don’t like
The only real issue with this device is the fact that the battery is not really all that special, at around 3,000mAh. The fingerprint sensor is also not exactly where most people are comfortable with using it, even if it is somewhat more traditional. Some people are not happy with the way that the camera slide mechanism works, but we think that it works well enough to be useful to most people.
Should you buy it?
If you want a phone that helps you to make the most out of your smartphone screen, then this is the phone for you. It has an incredible amount of system memory for a smart phone, and makes this a truly worthy replacement for your current daily driver smart device. This is a well-priced phone with components that can easily stand up to the newer applications that have come to make the best use out of your smartphone’s hardware. It is hard not to recommend this phone to average users.
