TP-LINK Archer C7 TL-AC1750 Review
The TP-LINK Archer C7 is a fine addition to the company's router ranks. With unique shape and fairly large dimensions, the Archer C7 is not the typical router, but does is live up to the Archer name? We think so.
The Archer C7 TL-AC1750 is definitely a bit on larger side of the scale. With dimensions of 9.6 by 6.4 by 1.3, it can be kind of bulky and hard to store comfortably. Many routers today are sleek and flat; the Archer C7 is quite the opposite. There are three 5dBi antennae that are detachable. The antennae are actually sturdy and do not bend or move easily. There are three antennas also located on the inside of the Archer C7. These antennas feature the dual band router, which supports the 450Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. Users can get up to 1,300 Mbps on the 5GHz band. The Archer C7 contains the typical LEDs that are on most routers on the panel in the front. The back panel hosts the USB ports (2.0). There are also four Gigabit Ethernet ports on the back as well as a Gigabit WAN port and the power switch. Reset button is also accessible from the back.
For those who are clueless on how to properly install such a device, the archer C7 comes with a user-friendly manual and disk drive that explains exactly what to do. There is also a set of paper instructions that come with the device, but they are fairly confusing if you don’t have prior experience with routers. Seeing as the device is nearly void of any pictures or graphics, the Archer C7 interface is clearly geared for users who don’t need graphics to help them out and are comfortable with these types of products. There are also several advanced features within the Archer 7 such as IGMP configuration and WDS.
The Archer C7 features NAS capability, but in a very basic format. USB drives can be designated to file, media servers or FTP format. Users can also connect a printer server to a USB printer. Wireless performance with the Archer C7 also displays average quality. It’s defiantly not the top of the list but it’s good enough to be functional and noticeable. The Archer C7 averages t around 100 Mbps when at 2.4GHz during the initial test.
