The Best:

The Sony WH-1000MX3 headset is an industry leading noise cancellation system that allows users to hear only the music that they want to listen to. It produces excellent sound quality thanks to the 40mm drivers that are made with liquid crystal polymer drivers. They are also wireless and have 30-hour battery life which is amazing for anyone that needs to have music on the go. The controls are non-mechanical and are activated via touch sensors.

The Bugs:

While these headphones look and sound great, the form factor is not for everyone because of its overall size. They are not very heavy, and they certainly aren’t bulky, but they are not as small or as light as the Apple AirPods. This shouldn’t be a deal breaker for most people, but it is something to keep in mind if you prefer a smaller set of headphones. 

Is it for you?

There aren’t many people out there that wouldn’t love these headphones. They have excellent sound reproduction with plenty of bass, without losing too much of the higher frequencies and dynamics. The best part is the active noise cancellation that allows you to listen to your favourite music while travelling without letting in any external sounds.

Headphones come in all different shapes and sizes and offer plenty of features that are specific to your intended activities while using the Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones. There is Bluetooth connectivity that lets you sync up with your phone or tablet with voice controls for additional hands-free capabilities.

What we like

We really like the rigid design and oversized ear cups on these headphones, and the sound reproduction is really good. If you enjoy bass heavy music then these earphones will not disappoint, while instruments and vocals also shine through the 40mm drivers that are installed in this headset.

The 30-hour battery life is also a definite plus, but if you don’t have time to charge the device fully then a simply 10 minute quick charge will yield playback of up to 5 hours, which is more than enough for doing house work or going for a jog. If you are listening to your music and you need to communicate quickly with another person, the Quick Attention mode feature provides effortless sound muting so you can hear and be heard.

What we don’t like

The only thing that some people might not like about this headset is the size and shape of the ear cups, which is totally subjective. Some people just prefer in ear style earphones, which is fine, but they don’t tend to have the same level of bass response as what full ear cup designs can provide.

Should you buy it? 

Whether you work in an office or a home studio, these headphones are really good for music. They are not quite at a studio monitor level when it comes to perfect sound play back, but then again, the pricing should be enough to tell you that these are aimed at the enthusiast market and not at sound engineers. Overall this is a really good wireless headphone solution that is sure to bring you many hours of listening pleasure as you go about your daily activities with the music that you really love.
