Sony PlayStation 4 500GB Review
Sony has been a constant mainstay in the videogame console industry ever since the original Playstation model came out. Playstation 4, like every console they put out since then, has been highly antecipated due to Sony's tradition in exclusive games, functional accessories and network system. Let's see if the PS4 lives up to the hype!
The PlayStation 4 comes equipped with the console, power cord, HDMI cable, a Micro USB cable, ear bud and a DualShock 4 controller within its standard package. This is a very encompassing set when compared to older entries in the series and among the competition. There is only one version of the PlayStation 4 (not counting the color variants): the 500GB PS4 model. Even with the small design of the PlayStation 4, the device packs so many ports along the back. There are two USB 3.0 slots and a 6x Blu-ray drive. In the center there are touch-sensitive power and eject buttons that portray the familiar PS3 beeps and sounds. There are also four interfaces along the back and an optical audio system that runs along the back from left to right. The PlayStation 4 does come with a camera that runs through the HDMI processor, Ethernet and auxiliary port. Unfortunately, the PS4 has to be connected to an HDTV with an HDMI input for the device to run. The device does work with Bluetooth, but it is not fully compatible with the PS4.
For the price, the hardware is actually fairly impressive. Although the Sony PlayStation 4 is small, 2 by 11 by 12 inches, there is a lot of power within the device. The device holds 8GB of DDR5 RAM as well as the 1.84 TFLOP AMD Radeon. Fortunately, the 500GB hard-disk drive is replaceable. Due to the amount of hardware and software located within the PlayStation 4, gameplay is ranks high on the scale. However, this high ranking is not much different than the PlayStation 3. This is both good and bad because there is no significant improvement but at the same the quality is good. The biggest difference between the PS3 and the PS4 is the graphics, which has significantly improved. Also, due to the DualShock 4 controller, gameplay feels much more realistic. During gameplay, you can pause the action and back out to the Dynamic Menu, while tapping the home button twice will bring you back to game mode.
Regarding the controller that comes with the Sony PS4, several features have been changed. The controller is slightly larger and heavier than the one for the PS3 and the L1, L2, R1, R2 buttons have been redesigned. The most notable adjustment within these four buttons is that the L buttons are further extended outward and much easier to control. There are also several entertainment options incorporated with the PS4. Users can stream media with Hulu, Netflix, NBA Live Pass and others, watching movies on DVD, PS Network/PS Plus and streaming Bluetooth media.
