Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 Review
Sennheiser had been doing well on the market with the original momentum and a lot of people were left in awe when they announced that they would introduce the second-generation headphones in the momentum line. You are left wondering what was better to offer over the already awesome Sennheiser momentum. However, it turns out there were a few tweaks that would improve the overall quality of the original Sennheiser momentum. So, should you buy the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 if you own the original Sennheiser momentum?
The answer to this question is a big yes. If you can remember clearly, there were a few issues with the portability of the original momentums and they were a bit bulky. This kind of left them lagging behind the competition and somehow became a deal breaker for some people. However, Sennheiser decided not to play catch up anymore and addressed these issues in the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0. The added a couple of hinges to make them more foldable and easy to store. This means that the chunky storage case is gone.
The exceptional folding design is just one of the changes. The most relevant tweaks are on the ear cups and the ear pads which are bigger now. Although the larger ear pads and ear cups do not eliminate the bulkiness problem, they offer a whole new level of comfort and noise isolation. They also had to tweak the head band for more comfort. There are even more changes if you look at the headphones keenly like the changing of the headphone cable from the left to the right ear cup. This might not make any significant difference in the overall performance of the headphones, but improves the user’s experience depending on where you put your phone.
The guys at Sennheiser also decided to redesign the in-line remote making it smaller and more stylish. There are a few more other changes like the new 3.5 mm jack that all work on improving the user experience. Although there is no mention of any tweaks on the headphone drivers, there is a significant improvement in sound quality thanks to the new ear cups that help to reduce the bass leakage.
At the end of the day there is always a mixed reaction when a manufacturer decides to go back to the drawing board especially with an already successful product. Nevertheless, in this case the Sennheiser camp won’t get much criticism. It’s evident that they didn’t pick the downward route on this one. In short, they managed to increase the overall value of the original momentums without many setbacks. Apart from enhancing the design of the momentums and improving a few features, they also made sure that they did not compromise with the performance of the headphones. If you are in the market for high-quality headphones, then you wouldn’t want to cross the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 off the priority yet. However, you will need to have your finances in order as they don’t come cheap.
