Sennheiser HD 598 Review
The Sennheiser HD 598 is a circumaural headphone with combined latest technologies for a better and worthwhile listening activity. Like the Ergonomic Acoustic Refinement technology that directs audio signals straight to the user’s ears.
Since it is an open-back headphone, those around you will hear the music through the headphone and you can also hear the voice of those around you. So, when you are using this headphone, you are not totally oblivious to your surroundings. This is an advantage in case, you need to take care of a baby or there is a phone call or even a knock on the door.
It is, on the other hand, not advisable to use outdoor or in open spaces where there are a lot of noise. There’s a drawback here, other people might not appreciate hearing the music you are listening to. It would help to keep the volume low so as not to disturb the people around you who are supposed to be enjoying some silence.
This headphone has metal mesh, a leatherette headband and ear pads. It is super comfortable to use and makes listening for longer periods of time painless. Even for more than ten hours, the ear won’t have any irritations. Its exterior has a beige-colored, high-gloss burl wood accent that makes it look unique and attractive. It is lightweight although the cable is very long and heavy. It is, however, removable. Because of the cable, this headphone is not really mobile.
There is an integration of a special Duofol diaphragm geometry to minimize distortion of sound. There is also a surround reflector for extensive sound field. HD 598 headphones sound well with jazz, classical, jrock, acoustics, jpop and pop music. It includes a jack and an adapter for IPod use. It sounds good through the MP3 player. There is no need to buy any pricey headphone amplifier. Its sound is refined than earlier models of Sennheiser and it is great for vocals. The sharpness of its treble is not over the top and the bass is not heavy sounding.
In listening through this audiophile-quality headphone, you are able to identify those musical instruments that are unrecognizable when you use low-end headsets. It is like listening to a live musical performance.
The Sennheiser HD 598 looks pricey but it is worth every penny. It’s highly recommendable.
