The Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB USB 3.0 is the smaller and more portable version of the Backup Plus Fast and as you would expect, its performance is amazing. Just like its counterpart the Backup plus Fast, you will find that it’s fast, easy to use and affordable. However, you will also realize that you need to compromise on the transfer speeds as the Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB USB 3.0 uses a single drive while the backup plus Fast uses double drives. You will be expecting the Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB USB 3.0 to be very portable as it’s pocket sized, comes with reasonable per –GB price, backs up your social media as well as mobile devices and you can chose from four different colors.

Just as you would expect, the Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB USB 3.0 is fully USB powered. This allows users to backup their digital content without the need to carry any extra power supply. This works very well on the size as it can fit on any pocket. With a preloaded Seagate dashboard, users are able to automatically back up content from their social media as well as their mobile devices. It comes with a great unique feature which allows users to share video to a certain YouTube account. Users will also enjoy the Seagate mobile backup app for Android and iOS devices which Seagate offers for free. This app allows users to back up their content easily when on the go.

The Seagate Backup Plus Slim comes in various capacities and you can choose from an array of colors so if 2TB is a bit on the higher side for your use, you can go for the lesser 1TB or the least 500GB. It doesn’t come with a metallic enclosure. Instead, the guys at Seagate used a plastic build. It has a glossy black side trim but if design isn’t something really important, here’s what the portable drive will do for you.

When it comes to sequential read and write speeds, it really performed well according to expert tests. It recorded a sequential speed of 88.6MB/s and a sequential write speed of 119MB/s. The transfer rates were also impressive as it hit a 58.7MB/s best on reads and 95.6MB/s best for writes. Well, enough with the geeky stuff. The main point is that it did perform well although it couldn’t make it to the levels of its counterpart (the Plus Fast), it did really well compared to its other competitors such as the Toshiba and Lacie drives.

All in all, the Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB USB 3.0 does perform well and is still well priced as compared to other drives on its league. The 2TB goes for slightly over $100 while the 2TB LaCie’s price is a few dollars shy away from $300.Even the Toshiba Canvio Slim is also a bit pricier than the Backup plus slim as it retails at around $150.
