Samsung Galaxy Buds+ Review
The 3-Minute Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus Review
Tune Out The World and Turn Up The Sound
By Rachel Hutson | 29 February 2020
Samsung has released the new Galaxy BudsPlus this month as an upgraded version of the Galaxy Buds, and a rival to the iPods.
The design is like its predecessor with its sleek ergonomic body that fits perfectly into the ear and added wingtip that allows for extended wear with little to no discomfort. The outside is a glossy finish and comes in three colors, Black, White, and Blue.
They have fitted the BudsPlus with two speakers, a tweeter and a woofer to enhance the sound quality. They have included three mics, one inner and two outers allowing for improved voice calling and noise canceling. Samsung teamed up with AKG to tune the audio, giving you a crisper cleaner sound.
The earbuds have an 85mAh battery and 5.0 Bluetooth connectivity. The case is fitted with a 270mAh battery and can be fast and wirelessly charged. All managed by RTOS operating system and fitted with Accelerometer, IR, Hall, and Touch sensors
Features & Design: 5/5 ● Performance: 4/5 ● Value: 5/5 ● Sound Quality 5/5
The Galaxy BudsPlus are an improvement over thepredecessor due to the addition of another external mic. This enhances the call audio and betters the noise cancellation. With the 2-way dynamic speaker setup, your audio quality is boosted with the woofer for better bass and a tweeter for the treble, and if that was not enough, AKG tuned them to maximize sound quality.
The small sweatproof design gives a comfortable fit, with multiple wings and tips that fit well into the folds of your ear. This allows for extended wear time and holds well in the ear without falling out.
The Galaxy BudsPlus have a low IP rating as they are only IPX2 splash resistant, not fully water and dustproof, this is not really an easy fix as earphones are notoriously hard to fully waterproof.
The lack of active noise cancelation is somewhat of a bugbear, as other ear and headsets are fitted with active noise cancelation. The gesture control can be temperamental while adjusting the earbuds in-ear, and the lack of auto-pause is noteworthy.
Is it for you?
Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus is one of the best wireless earbuds on the market, and a substantial upgrade from the previous Galaxy Buds. The Plus offers you up to 22hours of playtime with a fully charged case and buds, allowing you to have long-lasting earphones for all your sports and travel needs.
What we like
Samsung has collaborated with Spotify to allow for a unique playlist based on your music history, and 22hours of playtime to listen to that playlist. With the battery upgrade, you now have 11hours of playtime on a single full charge, and if you add the charging case to that, you get an extra 11 hours.
What we don’t like
There is little not to like, and perhaps the glossy finish may have a downside as it leaves the case looking grimy due to it being a real fingerprint magnet.
Should you buy it?
These are the perfect all-rounder as they have long playtime, improved sound quality, excellent noise cancelation, and amplified and clearer voice when on calls. The price is reasonable, and the quality is there. The BudsPlus is a substantial upgrade and a must-have for all your musical needs.
