Samsung Galaxy A80 Review
The 3-Minute Samsung Galaxy A80 Review
Live on the Flip Side
Samsung has released the new line of A-series devices that range from entry-level to mid-range devices. The Samsung Galaxy A80 was released in May of this year.
The look and feel of this device are comfortable and striking, with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED full HD+ near bezel-less screen called the Infinity Display, opting for a rear camera that can pop up and flip to be the front-facing camera as well. The device comes in three colors Phantom Black, Angel Gold, Ghost White all powered by the 3700mAh battery and 25W fast charge capabilities.
The A80 is powered by Snapdragon 730 Chipset, 8GB RAM,128GB onboard storage and this is all run by Android 9.0 (Pie).
When it comes to camera and video capabilities the A80 has been fitted with an 8MP ultra-wide camera, 48MP main camera, and a 3D depth camera.
Features & Design: 3/5 | Performance: 3/5 | Value: 3/5 | Battery Life: 3/5
The display is one of the best features on this device, the new infinity display offers Full HD+ with vivid colors and dark blacks all while being nearly bezel-less.
The camera is the biggest feature on this device as it is meant to stand out with its rotating camera. The A80 is fitted a 48MP camera that rotates to become the selfie camera for those stunning full quality images.
The Samsung Galaxy A80 has no option for expandable storage so you are just left with the standard size.
The Device is not water-resistant with no IRP rating this is due to all the moving and rotating parts.
The A80 Could have been fitted with a larger battery a device of this screen size often has, this would have made the device last longer. Due to this the endurance rating of this device is a lot smaller than other devices of this price range.
Is it for you?
The Galaxy A80 is more of a mid-range device with a high-performance chipset and RAM capabilities. The device is mainly built around its new design rotating camera that gives you a 48MP selfie camera.
If you are looking for a higher speck phone with better RAM, chipset, and better price range this device is not for you and would find that one of Samsung’s flagship devices better suited.
What we like
The Samsung Knox protection plan built into your devices hardware and software protecting you with its multi-layered security measures that safeguard your sensitive information and defends against malicious threats.
Due to its large 8GB RAM size, it allows you to multitask more seamlessly and do more with its multi-window features. This ram and chipset setup offer you insane performance that will blow you away.
What we don’t like
The phone is expensive for a mid-ranger where you could get a flagship for the same price.
The device only has fingerprint unlock and no option for face unlock, and the fingerprint sensor is not as fast a snappy as other devices in this price range.
There is no headphone jack so you will have to get a dongle to plug in your headphone jack and this also limits you as you will not be able to charge your device while listening to music.
Should you buy it?
If you are looking to stand out and make a statement, then this device will defiantly draw attention with its unique features.
On the other hand, if you are looking for a device with better chipsets and performance then we would sagest looking into a flagship device in this price range.
