Parrot Zik 2.0 Review
The Parrot Zik 2.0 is a Bluetooth headphone and much more. With effective noise cancellation, intuitive touchpad input and a lightweight design, this headphone is perfect for the modern user. Parrot has let Philippe Starck design this headphone too and he has not let anyone down. Parrot has also improved the device compatibility through firmware updates and this has resulted in enhancement of the audio quality.
Parrot released its Zik 2.0 headphone after taking feedback from the ground up. It claims that Zik 2.0 is the “best headphone in the world” and many would not mind agreeing. With a quirky and lightweight design, comfortable feeling, Bluetooth connectivity, active noise cancellation and an intuitive way of working, this headphone is indeed built for the discerning music lover. If you do Parrot Zik 2.0 vs Bose QC25 or Parrot Zik 2.0 vs Beats Studio Wireless, you will feel that the quality of sound on the Zik 2.0 is a touch better. The touch functionality is sensitive enough and the sound performance is excellent. The App on Parrot Zik 2.0 is compatible with Android and iOS and lets you control the headphone without touching it at all. The App has all the features that you need.
What is the sound quality ?
The sound performance of the Parrot Zik 2.0 is the biggest selling point of this headphone, with or without the App. The over-ear design of this headphone has been used perfectly to offer you deep bass, balanced highs and mids that do not clash with each other. All of this is presented to you on a massive soundstage.
Are these headphones comfortable to wear ?
The faux leather cover lets the headphone sit comfortably on your head without causing any disturbance. Although Zik 2.0 is lighter than the original Zik, it is still a little heavy. The ear cups also fit nicely but they can get a little warm, fortunately not to the point of discomforting you. The power button may accidentally get pressed when you try and take off the headphone because it is where your thumb would be when you are in the process of removing it. A slight change of grip does take care of this matter though.
Are they noise isolating ?
The Parrot Zik 2.0 is a noise cancelling headphone. When the active noise cancellation mode is turned on, the Parrot Zik 2.0 battery is about six hours. In the “street mode”, active noise cancellation is only possible when the headphone is wired and the battery life is tripled to a whopping 18 hours. As far as the effectiveness of the noise cancellation is concerned, Parrot has done a splendid job.
Conclusion: Should I buy them ?
The Parrot Zik 2.0 is not your conventional plug and play headphone and it only works when you have the App installed in your smartphone. The hardware is solid and the software is updated from time to time to ensure that you have a superb music experience. Yes, it is on the expensive side but it does offer you great value for money.
