OnePlus 2 64GB Review
The OnePlus 2 64GB is a great smartphone that will go head to head with some of the most expensive smartphones on the market without looking out of place. It can be a good alternative to the higher end LG G4 of the HTC M9. It’s the predecessor to the original One Plus One and comes with the same set of features as it’s younger sibling amid a few tweaks here and there. The OnePlus 2 comes in two different capacities, the 64GB and the 16B but here we focus on the 64GB as it sounds like the better offer given that the phone don’t come with an SD slot. The OnePlus 2 64GB is not going to break any records but it will offer just what you would expect from a decent phone on its price range and perhaps a bit more.
The guys at the One Plus camp decided to use the Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 5.5 inch 1080p display for this phone. It comes with a decent 5 MP font facing camera and a 13MP rear camera and a fingerprint sensor.
The OnePlus 2 64GB design isn’t that premium but it looks decent enough. Compared to the One plus One, you could easily notice some budget cuts on the One plus 2 on the design. Luckily, they did away with the plastic cover and added a magnesium alloy to its cover which would easily go for aluminum. In this case, it would easily compare to the HTC One M9 and the IPhone 6 that are made of aluminum. The best part with the Magnesium allow is that it reduces the phones weight unlike aluminum. However, the OnePlus 2 64GB isn’t a light phone weighing at 175g. It’s actually around 20g heavier than the LG G4 which is something to worry about. However, it would go well with the big guys.
When it comes to display, the OnePlus 2 64GB can fairly compete against the Iphone 6 plus as they have the same ppi density. The screen also comes with IPS,LCD and LTPS technologies that keep the contrast ratio on check, viewing angels and power consumption respectively. It’s a good combination which means the OnePlus 2 64GB would beat the Samsung Galaxy S6 in terms of contrast and black levels. However when it comes to the resolution, you have to give it up for LG G4 and Samsung Galaxy S6 as they all come with QHD screens.
The 13MP rear cameras and the 5MP front cameras are decent additions to the One plus and this time round, they didn’t use Sony sensors. Just a quick tip, you shouldn’t always look at the numbers, at times the quantity supersedes the quality in some Sony sensors. The One Plus 2 however uses sensors from a little known company in China known as Onminvision which has been doing really well on the Chinese market. The camera software however isn’t the best and doesn’t come close to LG G4 of the Samsung Galaxy S6.
If you would like a good phone and might have some budget constraints, then the OnePlus 2 64GB is a good overall choice.
