Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm F/4G ED VR Review
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f4G ED VR is the latest addition of Nikon to a popular range of zooms available for the DSLR cameras from the company. This product cannot be called a replacement for its predecessor, but it can certainly be considered as an alternative to the other top ranges of zoom lenses available from Nikon.
Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm is completely compatible with full frame DSLRs hours and comes with fantastic vibration reduction feature so that slight shaking of the hands can be done away with. Additionally, the lens comes with gold rings that allow the user to classify the zoom lens as a high-end option for his or her DSLR. The unit also comes with constant aperture f4 on this new model. The difference between this lens and the previous is the aperture, which allows the user to enjoy a shallow depth of field and also the advantage of a broader light gathering.
This new model has its main drawing points in its reduced size, weight and price. Weighing almost 700 grams less than its predecessor and being considerably more compact, AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm is a lot more practical to transport and handle. As a result, clicking pictures on the go is a much easier experience and yields better results. Besides comparing well to the previous Nikon model, it also positions itself very well against other lenses of the same category in that regard. Usage of the lens is quite simple, since distance information from Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm is directly relayed in the camera itself; and hence, the user does not have to separately calculate distance for effective photographs. Also, exposure related information is passed on directly to the camera to allow the user to capture better photographs. The next-generation image stabilizer combined with the lightweight feature of the zoom lens makes it a clear winner in its price range and also in comparison to the other zoom lenses available from Nikon.
The performance of a lens is directly related to the shooting distance, but Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm is reported to have performed spectacularly even for long distance shots of landscapes. Noise reduction adjustment is available in this model; however, saturation adjustment, color adjustment, and extra tone adjustment have not been provided. This means that the user will not be able to tinker around with the control for vignette. The biggest advantage of using Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm is that it is compatible with a tele-converter and is extremely useful in shooting long distances. Nevertheless, it is important to have a tripod and ensure that the EXIF data is retained to get a high resolution shot.
This Nikon camera lens delivers a fantastic performance with very high contrast and sharpness in all apertures. It is lightweight, compact and portable and is an extremely good match in its price range for a tele-converter.
