Mastering Your Next Big Project
By Rachel Hutson | 27 January 2020
Logitech brought out the MX Keys a wireless Keyboard in September 2019 as an addition to their MX master series; you may ask why this is any different from the norm, well let’s dive in and see why this is so noteworthy.
The Logitech MX Keys keyboard is targeted for office use, programming and coding. The keyboard has been designed with all this in mind, that’s why it has a low profile, non-slip pads, indented keys, is super-light and made from high-quality components.
It is wireless and connects via a USB Bluetooth dongle and charges via a USB C-type cable. It has an ambient light sensor, a hand proximity sensor, and has 10 meters of wireless range.On/Off power switch, caps lock and battery indicator lights, easy-switch keys to connect to three devices and compatible with Logitech Flow enabled mice.
Features & Design: 4/5 ● Performance: 4/5 ● Value: 3/5
The MX Keys is a wireless design that leaves a clean look and free of those messy and unsightly wires. The integration of the MX Keys connects to any OS, whether it be Apple, Microsoft, Linux or Android making it perfect for any office environment.
The MX its ergonomically designed low profile andmatte coated keys for your fingertips, giving you maximized use of keystrokes with minimal sound. This is due to Increased key stability that reduces the noise and optimizes responsiveness, so you feel but don’t hear your keystrokes.
The keyboard has a proximity sensor in it to automatically detect your hands and instantly turns on the backlighting, which makes for working in low light conditions a lot less troublesome.
The lack of angle adjusters to this keyboard may make for uncomfortable use as you are stuck with one hight only. You also must purchase the wrist mat separately instead of including it in the design or with the product.
Is it for you?
With the use of the MX Keys and the Master 3 mouse, your working environment will forever be changed, as this setup allows for device integration and flow from one device to the next, making your workflow fluid and seamless.
What we like
The device is rechargeable and lasts for at least 10 days with the backlighting on and 5 months with the backlighting off. The easy-switch keys that allow you to connect to three devices and switch between them, and if that wasn’t enough, it is multi-OS, meaning you can connect to Windows, Mac, iOS, Linux and Android.
What we don’t like
There is not much to dislike about this keyboard as its perfect for office use, the main faults we have is the price and the lack of angle adjusters that tilt the keyboard.
They could have instead opted for a grouped set-up of the MX Master 3 mouse, the MX Keys and wrist pad.
Should you buy it?
Yes, it is a straightforward answer if you are looking for an office-based keyboard for programming or basic typing. The features on this keyboard make it top of the list for office use and workflow management.
But if you are looking for a gaming keyboard, this will not be your go too, as it lacks the mechanical keys needed for gaming and fast response times.
