HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn Review
The HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn is a monochrome laser printer. It is a competent, reliable printing workhorse for the home and SME environment. . Despite its moderate price, it delivers plenty of pep, along with good paper handling. Unfortunately, its high toner costs make it a better fit for low-volume users than for high-volume users
It is compact in size and easy to setup. The printer can be connected directly to a PC via USB, and it also features built-in Ethernet networking. Its print quality is excellent, and it offers autoduplexing, saving time and trees with double-sided printing. It is an attractive option because of its low cost, small size, and fast output.
At 9.7 by 15.2 by 11.2 inches (HWD) and only 15.4 pounds, the P1606dn is both smaller and lighter than most inkjets. However, it's large enough to hold a 250-sheet paper tray as well as the built-in duplexer. In addition, the 10-sheet multipurpose tray is a useful extra that lets you print on special paper without having to swap out the paper in the tray. There are no additional paper tray options, but the 250 sheets should be enough for personal use or for sharing among two or three people.
It has no LCD display and it also has minimal buttons, making it very simple and easy to use. But you can't access it without using a computer because of its limited functionality, and it also doesn't have other connectivity options so you really won't need a display or a lot of buttons to operate this machine.
Speed is impressive for the price, and quality is normal. The LaserJet Pro P1606dn averaged a swift 19.2 pages per minute on the Mac and 19.3 ppm on the PC, printing mostly plain text with some simple monochrome graphics. Print speeds for graphics pages were respectable, but the output quality was somewhat rough.
A speedy printer might motivate you to print more, but the LaserJet Pro P1606dn’s high-cost toner will quickly dampen any such ambition So if you plan to print in high volume, look for a model with a higher-capacity cartridge.
Not only does this printer produce great quality printouts, it also has other features which make it even more useful. It has a quiet mode that allows you to print without producing much noise, making a more comfortable working environment. It also has an automatic on and off function which makes it easier to print the first page even right after you turn on the machine. It's also Energy Star qualified so you not only benefit from using it in place of another device, you also get to help save Mother Earth.
The HP LaserJet Pro P1606dnboasts all the features that the home and SME user will need from a no mess, no fuss monochrome printer. This is highly recommended for those in search not only of a functional laser printer, but an affordable one as well.
