Garmin Vivofit 2 Review
The Garmin Vivofit 2 is one activity tracker that you will love if travelling is one of your hobbies. The first thing that makes you admire this device is that fact that it can last for a year without being charged. Yes, battery life is a very important thing today to consider especially for travelers. Moreover, you don't need to remove the device form your wrist as its water proof. You can as well enjoy the new stopwatch that is integrated to the Garmin Vivofit 2, audible alerts and a back light.
The Garmin Vivofit 2 also comes with a better wrist band and alerts you when you become inactive. However, you will have to compromise with some features such as automatic syncing and vibration. You should also note that the mobile app won't give you detailed information. However, its long display and excellent battery life will make you go for this activity tracker in place of the Fitbit Charge or the Jawbone Up2.
The Garmin Vivofit 2 will calculate the steps that you have taken in a day, the calories you have burned, distance travelled and the amount of sleep you get at night. If you have come across the original Vivofit, then you will realize the design is similar but this baby comes with a stopwatch function, backlight and audible alerts. This baby will remind you when you are too laz' by alerting you when it detects long periods of inactivity. Its backlight display makes it easy to check the time quickly even in direct sunlight. Although the display is important, it makes the device a bit bulkier than its competition the Jawbone Up2.
Navigating through the Garmin Vivofit 2 is easy as you only need to press the single button consistently to show you the available options. You can set what you want on display through its smartphone app. With an additional ANT+heart rate chest strap, it's also possible to keep track of your heartbeats. However, it lacks GPS and so it uses the accelerometer to calculate the distance covered. If you would like one with in built GPS, then the Garmin Vivoactive would be a great choice.
All in all, the Garmin Vivofit 2 is a great activity tracker and can be very useful for someone who wants to keep their calories in check. It will count your steps, walking distance and time taken with it's in built stop watch. The display is also a plus as you don't need to reach for your smartphone every time you want to check on the distance travelled. However, this feature makes it a bit bulky which might be a deal breaker for fashionistas.
If you consider battery life a top priority and the display, then the Garmin Vivofit 2 is a good choice. However, if these won't be as important as getting better apps such as smart coaching, then you should consider the Jawbone Up2. The Up2 is smaller in size and offers smart coaching which can be very helpful for anyone keen on their heath life.
