DJI Inspire 1 Review
DJI takes credit for making the first ever flying camera that record in UHD. In 2014, we had the Phantom 2 vision+ which was a great quad copter but later in the year, the guys at the DJI headquarters decided to offer us even more and that’s when they created the DJI Inspire 1. The DJI Inspire 1 is not one of your ordinary toys, this is a functional flying 4K camera. It’s an advanced Vision+ and as you would expect, the price tag was also increased to match the new features.
It comes with carbon-fiber landing gear which makes it easy for landing and take off. It’s lifted or lowered automatically when the DJI Inspire 1 takes off or when landing. Armed with it’ 4K camera that rotates to 94 degrees, it shoots at 30 frames per second for UHD video and 60 frames per second in 1080p. Its’ also capable of getting 12 MP stills at its 94 degrees field of view which is always unobstructed. The camera can tilt up to 125 degrees and rotate to a full 360 degrees.
Just like the Vision+ the camera is perfectly attached for smooth recoding even in windy areas. The DJI Inspire 1 seems a bit sturdier that its little brother and the camera is easily replaceable just like in the Vision+. If you want o fix a new camera, you don’t need to get a technician to do that. Even better, there are no tools required.
The DJI Inspire 1’s remote control is a one stop control center where you can change the camera settings and still fly the Inspire 1. You can change the camera settings using the buttons on the top left or right for the controllers. Alternatively you can use one controller and let another person handle the camera settings on the other controller. The controllers also have a wireless transmitter that enables the handler to live stream 1080p video on their Smartphone or tablet as far as 1.7 kilometers away. The connectivity is also diverse with HDMI and USB ports placed at the back for easy content sharing.
The DJI Inspire 1 is easy to fly as you can command it to land or take off with just a push of a button. In case you want to be a bit adventurous and do the take offs and landing, then its shock absorbers and wide base will ensure no damage is done even when you crash land.
There are dedicated apps for android and iOS users that make it easy for you to monitor the camera settings, battery life an d make a couple of commands from your android or IOS device. One of the things that might be a potential deal breaker is its price. The flight time will also push away a few people as it can only record 4K video for 18 minutes. However if compared to other copters, it’s one of the best flight times that we have. Moreover, the DJI Inspire 1 is programmed to land when the battery life decreases.
