Canon EOS 7D Mark II Review
The Canon EOS 7D Mark II Digital SLR camera is a brand new product created by Canon and that aims to satisfy the needs of professional photographers who want to make the most out of their photos, regardless of the subject they choose.
The new camera has a series of advantages over the previous Mark edition and it stands pretty well even in comparisons with other camera brands. Canon has a long history in this business and they used this knowledge to their advantage in order to create an enhanced Mark II camera.
The number of effective pixels is already an improvement, providing 20.2 MP for photography, but this is not the only thing that matters when you work with a DSLR camera. The ISO range of the camera goes upwards from the classic 100 to the maximum standard value of 16000. However, in an expanded mode, the ISO range can go up to 25600. Add to this that the maximum shutter speed goes up to 1/8000th of a second and that the exposure range starts at 0 and goes up until 20.
The Canon EOS 7D Mark II promises a lot and you can benefit from most of these features if you make the right choices when it comes to lenses, because a DSLR is not just about the body. However, going back to it, you might want to know about more technical features and video seems to be important nowadays. This happens because there are many people who would rather purchase a more expensive DSLR that is able to capture high definition video than two invest in two different devices. Canon did their homework when it comes to video, so that you can capture Full HD content at 1080p, without being constricted by the usual 30 fps value; this time, you can go all the way up to 60fps. Movies can be saved in either MOV or MP4 formats.
The screen and the ViewFinder of a DSLR are sometimes overlook by people that are not interested in such in-depth details, but it’s good to know the ViewFinder of the Canon EOS 7D Mark II works with 100% coverage and with a 1.0x magnification. At the same time, the screen is the classic 3” one, but with a resolution of 720 x 480, slightly increased from other cameras, also because the 4:3 format is not used this time. Instead, a 3:2 format was the choice for this camera.
A premiere for Canon is that the Canon EOS 7D Mark II has a built-in GPS. Aside from that, Wi-Fi is an optional enhancement that makes photo and video transfers easier. However, given the fact that the camera now benefits from the latest USB 3.0 connectivity technology, transferring files in the classic way will be achievable in no time. The camera is compatible with a battery grip, although the standard battery of the DSLR is already able to take up to 800 shots in a single session.
