Apple IPad Air 2 16GB WiFi Review
Shortly after the launch of the iPhone 6, the Apple iPad Air 2 16GB WiFi is also ready to make its way onto the market, while featuring a whole new range of features that would benefit users in their daily lives. The tablet still relies on the 9,7 inch display with Multi-Touch and IPS technologies, but it proves to be better when it comes to glare: an antireflective coat has been used this time to reduce it effectively, making the iPad Air 2 more useful during a sunny day.
The new Apple iPad Air 2 16GB WiFi has the same height and width as its older brother (240mm and 196.5mm, respectively), but about 18 percent of the original depth have been shaved off, creating a tablet that is no wider than 6.1mm. The new iPad is not just about the looks, but also about the features, which come in large numbers in order to improve the status of the tablet. The camera is our first stop and you should know that the new, 8MP sensor, provides support for all the previous features, such as Panorama or HDR, but it also comes with the new Burst mode option. 1080p HD videos can be filmed, this time in slow motion, as well.
The WiFi technology of the Apple iPad Air 2 16GB WiFi has been improved dramatically, so that users can achieve speeds of up to 866Mbps, thanks to support offered by the 802.11ac networking features. The new WiFi is not the only ‘new’ thing inside the Air 2 tablet. The processor is also opening a new generation, being a modified version of the A8 CPU within iPhone 6. The A8X version is able to get the top spot in many benchmarks thanks to its three optimized cores, battling with the Surface 3 Pro. The GPU within the processor is a GX6650 which has been upgraded from four to six cores in comparison to the iPhone 6 GPU.
Although the 16GB version is the smallest out there, this doesn’t take away the appeal of the Apple iPad Air 2 16GB WiFi. The memory is enough to pack it with countless apps, including new ones that will be developed by Apple in partnership with IBM, targeting especially enterprise users.
Such new features seem like they would eat up the battery in no time, but Apple iPad Air 2 16GB WiFi is able to provide no less than 10 hours on battery after a charge, despite the fact that the battery itself is smaller than the one of the previous iPad Air. New sensors have been added within the iPad, including the barometer, although this should be aimed more at developers rather than at users.
The new iPad Air 2 weighs 437g, but it doesn’t feel heavy at all, thanks to the discreet redesign that made it much thinner and easier to handle. For those interested in the rest of the design, the tablet is shipped in Space Grey, Silver and Gold finishes.
