The Specifics:

Amazon released the Kindle Paperwhite in November 2018 as its 4^th generation Paperwhite Kindle. Packed with a few new features that will make your e-book reading so much more enjoyable.

This was designed at being an inexpensive eBook reader that is more durable than its predecessors. It has a 6-inch E-ink Carta touch screen, with a smooth front glass and is no longer indented to the bezzle. The glare-free display is 300ppi that gives high-quality text.

The Kindle Paperwhite is now more waterproof with an IPX8 rating, has 8GB of storage, and a 1500 mAh battery that lasts up to 6 weeks before needing a charge. It comes with WI-FI, Bluetooth and free cellular connectivity.

The Best:

This lightweight device can store thousands of books or over 35 Audible audiobooks. It has a much sleeker design that is 10% thinner and lighter than the previous generation, more storage and 3 storage options, an updated processor.

The battery life on this device is impressive as it offers weeks of reading time before needing a charge. Charge time is not very long either on this device and you can charge with a USB cable through your PC or via a 5w charging block.

The Bugs:

Despite the updated processor, it still feels sluggish when it comes to doing anything other than page-turning.

There is also the lack of page-turning buttons, but this is not much a downside unless you feel the need for it.

Is it for you?

Well, if you are looking for an inexpensive waterproof eBook reader, this is the best on the market. It is offering you up to 2 meters of waterproofing for 1 hour, making this a perfect device to take with you to the beach or by the poolside, paired with all the storage to last your whole holiday.

What we like

The ability to listen to audiobooks by just connecting your Bluetooth headphones and you’re on your way. When it comes to reading it outdoors, the newly upgraded adjustable 5 LED front lights give you even lighting across the entire screen without those pesky shadows the older model gave us.

The Kindle Paperwhite offers an ideal reading experience and excellent at this price point. There are many features such as fonts, font sizes, lighting and don’t forget the double-check on the backgrounds of characters mentioned on a page called the X-Ray feature. There is the ability to highlight text, and you can consult a dictionary.

What we don’t like

There is very little to dislike about this device, but if there are any points to critic it would be the public library experience is lacking on this device compared to other e-readers, but this is mostly due to amazon itself versus the actual device.

When it comes to charging this device, you will have to settle with charging it on your pc, unless you opt to get the charging adapter that comes at an extra cost.

Should you buy it?

Yes, if you want to change over to an e-book reader over standard books, this will change the game for you. If you are upgrading from the previous generation Paperwhite, it may not be worth it for you.
