Acer B286HK Review
The Acer B286HK is one of the few 28inch monitors on the market that feel like a cheat given the overall value of the monitor as compared to the pricing. With the Acer B286HK, you will get a 4K monitor that offers detailed images, decent gray scale reproduction and a generous set of excellent features. Moreover, it’s a decent gaming monitor that will impress the enthusiasts as well as the newcomers.
To begin with, we look at the design of the Acer B286HK. There is nothing striking about the Acer B286HK 28 inch monitor, but it’s just fine given the price tag. The entire body is made of plastic but still doesn’t look cheap. However, it’s grey and black colors give it an edge over other monitors on the market today. Moreover, it has a reliable stand which allows for flexibility. The monitor can move in various directions and if you aren’t satisfied you could use a VESA mount as it has the options on the back. Moreover, the stand is somehow wobbly and it would be a great idea to try using a VESA mount instead of the wobbly stand.
The connection department is well catered for with DiplayPort, HDMI, DVI and USB. It also has inbuilt speakers but unfortunately no place to insert an audio jack. When it comes to the Acer B286HK’s menu buttons, they are well placed and responsive. In fact, you will easily like this interface in place of the unresponsive touch buttons that some manufacturers are opting for.
Test results show that the Acer B286HK is a great monitor and very good when it comes to performance. Moreover, it was capable of playing high demanding titles without a problem. Titles such as Titanfall, Batman and Star Wars played really well at 60 frames per second. When it comes to 4K video output, the monitor works as expected. Moreover, the color accuracy is as expected given the pricing of the Acer B286HK.
There are a few shortcomings with the Acer B286HK monitor however. First of all, it’s very hard to set it up at first if you do not have any technical support. However, once you are past this phase, you could easily be able to get the Acer B286HK to serve you for the next couple of years.
When it comes to the sound from the inbuilt speakers, there’s nothing extra ordinary but it’s just good enough to take care of the basics. However, if you are looking for bass, then you will need to consider using external speakers as they won’t satisfy your needs. Moreover, the USB ports are usable even when the monitor is off as long as it’s powered, then it’s going to share the power with other devices.
At the end of the day, the Acer B286HK is not for everybody. It won’t make you over excited but it will get the job done. This means that you could save a great deal of money by going for the Acer B286HK in place of the higher end UHD monitors on the market today.
