Review: Apple’s Latest Products

Despite 2020 being an unfortunate time in history, Apple made the period less difficult by launching numerous products – such as the iPhone SE, MacBook Air, and Powerbeats – to keep us engaged.

Now that we’re nearing the end of the year, Apple refuses to slow down its production of innovative gadgets and has gone ahead to launch newer versions of its previous products.

Fortunately, this article aims to briefly review four of these modern gadgets and provide a fairly reasonable understanding of why these products are worth your money.

Without any further waste of time, here are some of Apple’s latest products, presented in no particular order.

apple watch 6

Apple Watch Series 6

On a very fundamental level, the Apple Watch Series 6 is an apple watch series 5 with an improved display that’s permanently illuminated, possesses a 20%-faster S6 SIP, coupled with ECG capabilities and blood oxygen measurements.

It might seem impossible to fathom, but the A6 SIP within this Apple Watch is based on the A13 Bionic located in the iPhone 11, granting the watch 20% more processing speed than its predecessors.

While the Apple Watch Series 6’s 2.5x always-on display is an impressive improvement, the most prominent feature is the Blood Oxygen Sensor and other related apps. This detector is exclusive to the Apple Watch Series 6, and its function is to measure the percentage of oxygen that your red blood cells carry to the rest of your body from your lungs.

Other additional features of the Apple watch series 6 include some sensors that are commonly found on most high-end smartwatches, along with a virtual fitness trainer, guiding you through various exercises like yoga, and strength training.

Apple Watch SE

If you desire an Apple smartwatch complete with excellent features but don’t have a massive budget to spend, then your best choice is the Apple Watch SE.

This pocket-friendly device possesses a few similarities with the series 6; it comes with bigger 40mm or 44mm case options and a visually appealing display size. Despite its small price, the Apple Watch SE comes with the S5 SiP which produces twice the speed found in the series 3.

Another feature that’s present in the Apple Watch SE is an always-on altimeter for measuring elevation, a component that is absent in the series 5.

The Watch SE’s battery life is commendable, lasting a total of 49 hours after being fully charged. This lifetime includes overnight sleep tracking – consuming 12% – and a brief run that lasted 24 minutes – draining only 5%.

You can recharge the watch from 0% – 100% in 1 hour 52 minutes with a flat magnetic charging cable.

As regarding sensors, the Watch SE possesses a plethora of them, including fall detection, heart rate monitoring, noise monitoring, steps and general activity tracking. It also features workout routines, including core training, swimming, running, cycling, etc.

Apple iPad

The iPad has been a popular name amongst smart devices, and Apple continues to make improvements to the gadget. Recently, the tech company released the eighth-gen iPad feels, which possesses updates that are absent in its predecessors.

There isn’t much to say about this new iPad since it’s the same 10.2-inch device fundamentally; however, this version possesses an A12 processor, unlike the previous A10. This addition makes a significant difference as it processes apps and instructions several times faster.

It also comes with the same size of RAM and storage space as previous iPad versions – 3GB and 32GB/128GB ROM. The only drawback with this device is the 1.2 megapixels front camera which produces low-quality images. Still, the rear camera holds an 8-megapixel, 1080p camera, which is a good addition.

apple ipad air

Apple iPad Air

Similar to other iPads, the iPad Air is more or less indistinguishable from most of its predecessors. It’s roughly the same height and width, features a home button that’s positioned in the standard iPad location (centre), a tiny camera in front, and a larger one behind.

However, the iPad Air possesses a bigger screen than the standard iPad, as well as an even higher screen resolution to match the pixel density of 264ppi. It’s also more usable in bright environments – outdoors – with the inclusion of an anti-reflective coating, full lamination, Wide colour support and True Tone.

In terms of processing power, The iPad Air gets the super-fast A12 Bionic chip which doubles the device’s speed, making it feel sharper and more responsive than the average tablet.

The only drawback with this version of the iPad is its speakers which aren’t high in quality due to their inaudibility and tonal narrowness. However, that flaw can be rectified with Apple AirPods or a modern headphone.
