Samsung Galaxy Note 10, Note 10 Plus Unveiled

Samsung’s Galaxy Note brand delivers the best big-screen phones money can buy. For the regular galaxy Note 10, it is excitingly small. At 6.3 inches, the Note 10 is among the most compact big-screen phones available – a result of Infinity-O screen that’s almost bezel-free. They haven’t just left features out; they’ve added an easier way to mirror the phone on a PC, some S-pen enhancements (gestures included), and a superior camera for video recording.

Trade-offs also feature on the Note 10. A la Apple, there is no headphone jack, and there’s no way to expand storage – no microSD card slot, though it still features on the super-sized Galaxy Note 10 Plus.

The Note 10 Plus has a 6.8-inch. It is bigger in every other way – number of cameras, battery capacity, RAM, storage and price. The trade-offs are similar to the Note 10’s, but the Plus can double as a 3D scanner.

So, let’s look at our best and worst parts of the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10 Plus.

On pre-order, the Galaxy Note 10 Plus (base 12GB RAM /256GB storage) is available for $1,099 while the Galaxy Note 10 is available for $949. Trade-in deals for the Note 10 and Note 10 Plus are available from Samsung for those pre-ordering through the official site. The Note 10 Plus with 512GB of storage can be bought for $1,199.

The Note 10 is remarkable, especially in the Aura Glow color. The silvery iridescence changes hues as light hits it at different angles. There is also Aura White, Aura Black, and Aura Blue (exclusive to Best Buy and

The Note 10 is smaller than the 6.4-inch Galaxy Note 9, and is thinner and lighter.

Galaxy Note 10 Plus, Smaller Package with Bigger Screen

The Note 10 Plus crams its 6.8-inch display into a thinner and lighter design than the Galaxy Note 9. The Infinity-O display makes slimmer bezels possible with a cutout for the front camera in the top center portion of the screen.

The missing headphone jack permits a bigger battery, and Samsung will be bundling active noise-canceling AKG USB-C headphones.

The Note 10 Plus is phablet-like; a typical two-handed device crafted from glass and aluminum. Same colors as the Note 10 are available for the Note 10 Plus.

  • Display

The Note 10 Plus retains the Quad HD+ resolution, but is certified HDR10+. The Note 10’s Dynamic AMOLED screen features 2280 x 1080 pixels, which is full HD+. Note 10 Plus is 3040 x 1440 pixels.

The Note 10 Plus’ screen has a poorer refresh rate than 90Hz, which offers smoother performance in the OnePlus 7 Pro and others.

  • S-Pen – Handwriting to Text, Air Actions and AR Doodle

The handwriting-to-text feature converts scribble to text, importing them into Microsoft Word documents. The phone sometimes misses a letter and is not exactly instant.

With Air Actions, your S-Pen is a magic wand to change modes in the camera app and zoom in on a subject, for instance.

Then you can draw right on people in camera view, and all you draw will follow them as they move round the frame.

  • Cameras

The Galaxy Note 10 has a triple-camera setup with a wide-angle 12MP camera, a 123-degree ultra-wide photo camera, and 12MP telephoto lens limited (compare to Huawei P30 Pro) to 2x optical zoom.

The Galaxy Note10 Plus delivers a VGA depth camera acting as a fourth sensor to take bokeh shots and better depth effects.

The phones will both feature Live Focus video effects to blur out backgrounds.

  • Spec and Performance

The fast Snapdragon 855 processor on both phones is not nearly as fast as the 855+ chip that will achieve higher clock speeds; the UFS 3.0 storage is expected to boost speeds, however. The Note 10 has only 8GB of RAM.

  • Conclusion

Both devices will connect to bigger screens with an upgraded DeX mode. Standard USB-C to USB-C or USB-C to USB-A can connect to a laptop, so you run your phone apps on the laptop, and drag-and-drop files at will.

There is a 3,500 mAh battery that smaller than on previous versions, with speedy wireless charging, while the Note 10 Plus gets a 4,300 mAh.

Both phones impress with their array of features, but it could ultimately boil down to price and the size of screen most people prefer to carry around.
