Symantec Norton 360 Version 6.0 3 users is a fully-featured security suite for home and home office users (up to three computers for one year). It provides security with four unique layers of powerful protection that proactively stop online threats before they can infect your computer. You can automatic backup; safely keep your photos, music, financial documents, and other important stuff to disc, USB device, or online to one of our secure data centers. Plus, the Insight technology blocks various online threats before they can cause you trouble while improving performance by checking where files came from and how long they’ve been around. Also, the download Insight 2.0 protects you from dangerous applications before you install them. Additionally, Norton Safe Web proactively protects you while you surf the Web by warning you of and blocking unsafe and fake websites right in your search results. Moreover, the Parental controls management tracks your kids online activity to help keep them safe from online dangers. Furthermore, Norton Identity Safe gives you the option of securely saving your user names and passwords so they can be automatically entered whenever you visit the same website in near future again. Symantec's security products are still overcoming their reputation for being slow, buggy beasts, but professional and user reviews alike indicate that Norton 360 creates minimal impact on system performance. Because it includes a three-user license, you can install it on three PCs. However, take note that Norton 360 auto-renews after one year (though you can cancel that option anytime you want). Version 6.0 3 is a hefty 130MB download. The installation is the easiest of any suite around; double-click the launcher and click "Install". The installer provides options to change settings such as the install directory, but it does not make you walk through them in a wizard. The install is quick- it took about two minutes; a restart was required to finish after it updated itself, however. Norton 360 has a simplistic icon-driven interface with a visually appealing color scheme. Only essential information is listed. Status for each of the four program components (PC Security, Identity Protection, Backup, PC Tuneup) is clearly listed under each icon; overall security status is given in the top-left of the window. Mousing-over any of the icons shows available options. The items are listed in plain English and the options windows are well-structured. Program settings are easily accessed and more importantly, easy to change and control. The Quick Controls panel on the right provides quick access to enabling/disabling various program components. Drag the sliders to control how each setting behaves. Overall, Norton 360's interface is well-structured and easy to navigate. It is one of the best-designed interfaces on a consumer security product. Norton had a miniscule impact on system performance. Norton 360 6.0 took 50 minutes to scan a hard drive containing 140GB of data. This is an excellent time. Around one hour is average and over two hours is considered a long time. Subsequent times with version 6.0 3 took just a couple of minutes since the Insight feature only scans files that haven't been scanned before. A weakness in Norton 360 for intermediate and advanced users is lack of detail and control closer to the surface. When running the disk defragmenter, for instance, you can't even get a sense of its progress. Setting exceptions in the firewall requires some amount of drilling through Windows. It would also be nice if there were more features aimed at notebook users, like network management and notifications about potential wireless bandwidth vagabonds. Also, Norton 360's anti-spam module does not support the Thunderbird email client. Overall, Symantec Norton 360 Version 6.0 is a solid security suite for home users and especially families. It’s interface is simple and easy to navigate and has a minimal impact on system performance. It is a fantastic security suite and one of the best thus far.
