The Samsung PS60E8000 is a plasma 3D high definition Smart television with a 60-inch screen size and weighs 31.2 kg. It has nine connectors such as one for composite video, one for component, three for HDMI, three for USB and one for Ethernet. It is definitely bigger than Samsung’s Series 8 LCD TV but with a lower price tag. It has a built-in Freeview HD tuner access to free HD channels that include BBC HD, ITV HD and Channel 4 HD which are all free of charge.
Although it seems less sophisticated in appearance, this television is loaded with the same features that the LCD TV has. These features made it thicker and heavier. It even includes a camera on its top bezel with little microphones for video chatting, face recognition, gesture and voice control. With its Wi-Fi and Ethernet features, you can connect to Samsung’s Smart Hub web browser and full web browser. You also don’t need your computer to connect to your friends or relatives via Skype, you can do it in front of your television and with its wide screen, and even the whole family can be viewed clearly by friends or relatives abroad. Special occasions at home like birthday parties and anniversaries can be watched by anyone overseas.
This TV also comes with a typical remote and with a touch pad RF remote which is programmable to control a Blu-ray player and PVR in case you want to record TV programs. The 3D is comparable with that of the LCD TV, colours are natural-looking and brightness is admirable, although, some observe that the bright part has an intense brightness and the dark part is overly dark. Nevertheless, this is adjustable and can be fixed. Some LED images, on the other hand, appear artificial due to excessive brightness. In general, most users agree that this plasma TV has an admirable sharpness. There are two pairs of 3D glasses and 2D to 3D converter that come with this plasma TV. Some people want this television hanging on the wall rather than standing on the supplied four-pronged stand.
There are issues, though, on this television’s durability. Some encountered problems within a few months of use. Most of the problems encountered were on the pixels. The warranty is only for one year. When it comes to gaming, the Samsung E6500 seems a bit responsive that this PS60E8000.
This plasma shows better 3D performance, others consider this better than that of the LCD TV. It has to be noted, though, that this plasma TV uses more energy. There are recent models of LCDs that use more power, too. This smart TV has smart interaction feature that enables you to manipulate the panel with the use of voice and gestures. Movement of the hand can move the pointer and making a fist is clicking the mouse button.
In summary, the Samsung PS60E8000 is an admirable plasma television that has gained a lot of compliments due to its impressive image quality and interesting features that don’t disappoint. It is pricey, but it is huge and exciting to use.
