    • The good:
Plenty Of Features, High Quality Construction, Low Power Consumption
    • The bad:
Pricey, Not So High Transfer Speeds, No Lockable Bay Doors

The QNAP TS-419P II is a very reliable NAS server that supports up to four 3.5" or 2.5" SATA hard drives with up to 12TB internal storage capacity.

It runs with Marvell 2.0Ghz CPU and 512MB of system memory, making it capable of extremely fast performance. The TS-419P II has a large metal enclosure with brushed aluminum exterior finish. Measuring 17.7cm x 18cm x 23.5cm, its drive bays are a combination of metal and plastic. It lacks any form of locking though which can be a security threat as anyone can steal the drives by simply pulling the drive bays. Its rear panel houses two Gigabit Ethernet ports, three USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports and two eSATA ports for storage expansion via external drives.

The front panel, on the other hand, features a USB 2.0 port, the power switch, status LEDs, a control panel with a simple mono LCD display and four HDD bays. The device has a cool feature on its front USB port. It is a hot-copy USB link wherein users can copy the contents of a pen drive or external USB hard drive to the internal storage by simply pressing the Copy button. The TS-419P is powered by an external non-standard 12 Volt power brick, which provides easy power supply replacement and lessens heat accumulation inside the NAS chassis.

The TS-419P is considered as the fastest 4-drive NAS server in the market. It reaches speeds up to 109MB/s transfer on a SAMBA read with RAID 5 enabled and up to 75MB/s on a SAMBA write. It proves to be capable for home and small business use. In sequential reads, the drive easily approaches Gigabit ethernet speeds for files that exceed 6MB. Although it is not capable of setting power-down times for external connected hard disks, the QNAP TS-419P II is still considered as a very reliable NAS server. It proves to be a good option for those looking for top-the-line storage.
