  • 4.0 / 5
    • The good:
Sleek looking and durable; Compatible with Android, iPhones and iPads; Good maneuverability and easy to operate
    • The bad:
Expensive; Still suffers from its prototype-esque profile

A popular and universally known Bluetooth company, the Parrot AR Done is a radio controlled flying quadricopter Bluetooth instrument. This quadricopter is made out of four plastic roots and two Styrofoam bodies that keep the rotors exposed. The Parrot AR Drone itself doesn’t have a power switch and can be plugged in with a battery since it has a battery slot.

The Parrot AR Drone is ideal for HD video streaming to a smartphone or tablet while it flies for a little over 30 minutes at a time. It weighs about 2285 grams. It is 22 inches wide and its height is about 22.4 inches. The depth of the device is about 5.4 inches. It comes with an HD camera which is 720p and 30fps, and a wide angle lens of 92 degrees diagonal. It has a USB key as well and has autopilot modes enabled for video recording. This device is compatible with Android, iPhone, and iPad devices.

It has 4 brushless In Runner motors and a fully covered shield which protects the device from harsh weather conditions or substances. It also has a front and bottom camera. Moreover, the streamlined hull is aerodynamic which provides better control outdoors. The battery charging time takes up to 90 minutes and once fully charged, the device can operate for about 40 minutes at a stretch.  It is quite durable due to its solid structure and is also water and scratch resistant. In addition to all these features, the Parrot AR Drone has an Inertial Guidance Systems with MEMS (Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems), which is embedded within the Computer System.

One of the key features of the Parrot AR Drone is that it is very responsive and easy to control. It also has an efficient camera function which is fast and easy to operate. This device is also a new invention for the gaming industry and has proved to be quite versatile in its overall quality and performance. The low flying time may be a problem for some, and while in air the device cannot go beyond 50 meters. Also, the initial set up may seem a bit complicated since it comes with several detachable screws which need to be fixed properly before the necessary usage. However, the device does have an altitude pressure sensor. This device may look like a toy, but it is used for more serious purposes like video recording and spying. The device comes in 3 color combinations: Orange/blue, Orange/green, and Orange/yellow.
