Nokia C5 Review

  • 3.5 / 5
    • The good:
Excellent keypad, Good Contacts and Facebook integration, Reliable Ovi Store, Fully-featured camera
    • The bad:
Lacks Wi-Fi capability, Limited feature set
The Nokia C5 is a simple phone, perfect for non-techies and those who can live without dozens of features. It is clearly not a smartphone but it is more advanced than most ordinary phones of its kind. The Nokia C5 is well-built, which is a trademark of the brand. With the Nokia C5, you get a 2.2 inch screen which is perfectly right for its kind. Its 112 x 46 x 12.3 mm dimensions and 89.3 g weight won’t give the user the usual struggle they would experience with larger smartphones in the market today. It has the usual Nokia keys in it such as the usual D-pad with a Select key button in the center, cancel key, and green, and red buttons for Call and End functions. The keypad is soft and excellent for typing. The Nokia C5’s front gives you the screen, the keypad and a VGA camera which is perfect for video calling. On the right side of the Nokia C5, you will find the volume buttons and the microSD card slot which can accommodate up to 16 GB. The top side of the Nokia C5 hosts a 3.5 mm audio jack, a power connector, and a micro-USB port. At the back of the the Nokia C5, you will find the loudspeakers and the 3.2 megapixel camera. The phone’s camera boasts of advanced features you wouldn’t really expect from this kind of phone. It already has LED flash which functions well up to a good 1.5 m and a 4x digital zoom. You can choose from scene, landscape, sports, night, panoramic modes, among others. It also lets you record VGA videos. The Nokia C5 operates on Symbian S60 operating system. It already has preloaded apps such as the reliable Ovi Maps and Facebook. You can choose from an array of apps at the Ovi Store if you want to. The Nokia C5 does not have that many connectivity options. It has no Wi-Fi capability but it runs an HSDPA 3G mobile Internet access. The Nokia C5 is clearly not for the techie and not for those who want to be connected all the time. The Facebook integration on the other hand has merits on its own as it lets you link your Contacts with your Facebook friends list. It serves its purpose well by automatically updating and displaying your Contact images and status updates.
