The Nikon D3100 kit includes Nikon D3100 digital SLR Camera with 18 - 55mm zoom Vibration Reduction (VR) lens. It is advantageous to buy this kit especially for the new entry photographers. It comes with the D3200 camera, 18-55mm AF-S Zoom lens, Transcend 16GB High Capacity SecureDigital Card, Vivitar 52mm UV Glass filter, DSLR case, USB 2.0 SD card reader, memory card storage wallet, 6 piece cleaning kit and the LCD monitor screen protector. It is a lot less expensive to buy the kit as if each of the items is sold at a discounted price. You will need and surely buy each of them anyway. The D3100 is considered as a Nikkor lens that has a standard price. Other Nikon lenses are pricier. With a higher megapixel, (14.2), images are great. The Nikon 18 - 55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR AF-S DX lens is a light standard zoom lens with 3x focal zoom range. Its Vibration Reduction makes indoor photo shooting not a problem. Nevertheless, shooting under the sun or just outdoors, images have a lot better quality than those taken indoors. For the exterior, the D3100 is lightweight and good to carry-around. It is an excellent camera for those who are yet to become professionals. With this camera, you don’t have to go through a lot of options in-between shots. Compared to D3000, the D3100 is faster and less noisy at high ISO. ISO is from 100 to 3200. The LCD screen is bright but not as sharp as advertised. The viewfinder is radiant but couldn’t be found in video. The controls are uncomplicated. Nevertheless it is disappointing to know that there is no wireless remote feature. The shutter speed of the D3100 is average at 3fps. Autofocus is fast but somewhat noisy. Manual focusing is better when videoing. For sports videos and photos, the Nikon 18 - 55mm is not very impressive, though. Pictures are great in auto mode. The Vivitar UV filter hinders the UV light and its foggy effect on the images. The camera bag is just enough for the camera, however, if you will have an additional lens, you will be needing a bigger space for that. The 6-piece cleaning kit includes an air blower, lens cleaning tissues, lens cloth, lens cleaning liquid, brush and cotton swabs. These materials are included to make cleaning so much easier. The USB 2.0 is less than the ideal 3.0. Files are transferrable easily though this USB. Overall, the Nikon D3100 kit is very useful. It is a incredibly nice starting kit that would make any amateur feel like a pro. It has many features that can be found in more expensive cameras but this one is a lot cheaper and comes with other important items included in the kit. The image quality might not be very impressive to others, speed included, too, but as an entry level photo shooter. It is a good way to start learning the deeper realms of photography. It is, indeed, a great value for money.
