Netgear WNCE2001 Review
Netgear WNCE2001 network adaptor helps to connect Ethernet-only devices such as smart TVs, media streamers and games consoles to your wireless network. The adaptor is very easy to set up, all you have to do is simply plug it in to your computer with an Ethernet cable, and then open up a web browser to see the web interface and choose the wireless router to which you want to connect.
After the setup is complete, you can connect any of the Wi-Fi enabled devices, and be connected to the internet wirelessly. The WNCE2001 can be powered over USB or from the included power adaptor. The adapter delivers data transfer speeds up to 53.7Mbit/s at 1m distance and 46.6Mbit/s at 10m distance. In fact, 12Mbit/s was observed at a long-range 25m test, which is very impressive for a compact adaptor that has no external aerials. The WNCE2001 is an easy to set up and fast way to connect devices to your Wi-Fi, and it is much cheaper than many official TV wireless adaptors.
The initial set up is easy, using push-button security or using a computer. Its wireless connection is fast and reliable for better streaming & other demanding activities. The USB connection enables device to run on power without an external outlet, a very sought-after property in such devices. It is also portable and can be set up pretty much anywhere, ensuring the best coverage and signal quality for areas of your preference. Indicator lights give the confirmation that the device is wirelessly connected to the home network and to the internet. However, firmware updates will be needed to fix initial problems with the management tools. Although wireless dongles connect via USB, the WNCE2001 is connected using the Ethernet cable. Most networked home theater devices and network players require that you get a certain kind of dongle made by the manufacturer to connect wirelessly. However, the Ethernet cable connection bypasses that requirement and can enable any device to connect to your Wi-Fi home network. The device thinks it is using a wired connection, because the WNCE2001 is connected to the network media player or networked device using an Ethernet cable. There is no setup required on the device as a wired connection is usually the default setting.
The performance of the WNCE2001 in high definition and 3D high definition video streaming is excellent. There are no breakages, no buffering, and quality of the picture is as flawless as the original that is being streamed because it is so easy to move the WNCE2001 between devices without further setup, I find that I regularly swap it between my network TV, Blu-ray player and network media player. It can also be taken into another room for a device to access the network without worrying about connecting a powerline adapter or wireless bridge. The Netgear WNCE2001 Universal Wi-Fi Internet Adapter will work with any network device as they all have an Ethernet port. Moreover, it is usually available at very decent price rates, as you can see and compare here in Shopbot. If you have devices that you want to wirelessly connect to your home network, including your network-enabled home theater components, and the internet, this is one of the prime options among Wi-Fi adapters.
