    • The good:
Solid built and design, Good social integration, Impressive camera, Decent mobile browsing
    • The bad:
No dedicated shutter key, Non-replaceable battery
Thinner than its predecessors, HTC One V has a compact design that is goes easy on the hands. The phone brings back the chin that is distinctive of the brand and comes at a 120.3 x 59.7 x 9.2 mm dimension and 115 g weight. The metal build of the handheld gives it a solid feel. HTC One V provides the usual 3.7" capacitive LCD screen which gives images and icons decent quality. The screen also performs well under the sun which is commendable. Just above the screen are the earpiece and proximity and ambient light sensors while below it are the staple HTC capacitive keys: Back, Home and Task Manager. The right side of the phone houses the volume rocker while the left side holds the microUSB port which is rather unusual since smartphones normally have two or more keys on one or both sides. At the top side of the phone you will find the 3.5mm audio jack, the status LED, and the Power/Lock key while at the bottom is the microphone pinhole. The back side of the One V gives you the 5MP camera along with the LED flash. It is disappointing however that there is no front-facing camera for video calling and there is no dedicated camera key as well. It is nice for HTC to equip One V with both Android 4.0.3 and Sense 4.0. However, there are still a few disappointments such as the lockscreen which is unfortunately non-customizable and non-replaceable as there are no available alternative lockscreens. Despite of the minor flaws, the phone provides a highly manageable interface, five homescreens, and a nice amount of widgets to choose from. You could also opt to match your mood by choosing among the Skins options. HTC One’s phonebook is remarkable. It manages to stay neat and organized while keeping all the necessary information users could ask for with its deep social network integration. Also, phone call quality is decent and messaging system is seamless. The phone’s 5MP camera proves to be impressive as it manages to keep colors and details decent. It could capture photos of up to 2592 x 1944 pixels and the LED flash which comes with it does a fine job. HTC One V also offers touch focus, face detection, geotagging, smile shutter, continuous autofocus, among others. Video recording which records 720p video at 30fps on the other hand is average but there are nice features such as capturing stills while recording. HTC One V offers the standard connectivity options. HTC Portable Hotspot is also available and could manage of up to eight devices. The phone comes with an improved Android browser which provides a hassle-free interface and excellent mobile browsing experience. It also offers full Flash and HTML5 support as well as video tag option. The phone’s organizer remains functional like its predecessors and viewing all types of files poses no problem. If preloaded apps still don’t satisfy you, Google Play Store and HTC hub are just a click away.
