The FIFA Soccer 12 is the 19th game in Electronic Arts' popular video game soccer series. It continues the franchise's unique blend of realism and innovative features that bring the authenticity to the video game pitch that fans crave. Featuring more than 15,000 players and more than 500 officially licensed clubs, FIFA Soccer 12 delivers the most authentic soccer experience to date. It continues to redefine the genre with innovations inspired by real-world soccer. The all-new Player Impact Engine delivers authentic player interactions on the pitch from recovering quickly after a light brush to pushing and pulling during a fight for possession. All-new Precision Dribbling delivers a higher fidelity of touch on the ball for attacking players, while Tactical Defending fundamentally changes the approach to defending by placing equal importance on positioning, intercepting passes, tackling and more. Also, CPU players have been infused with Pro Player Intelligence, , allowing players to make decisions based on their own skills, strengths and attributes, along with varying their attack based on the strengths of the players on the field and the weaknesses of opposing players. Finally, a new addition, EA SPORTS Football Club, a live service connecting players to the real-world game with fresh, new content all the time, enabling them to support their favourite club and connect and compete with their friends, rivals and millions of other players around the world. From the start, one of the most stunning features of the FIFA Soccer 12 is the sheer number of options you have. You can choose a team from a miles-long list of professional clubs and then creating your own player. Initially you may spend a few hours just trying to figure out which gameplay mode to check out first. Career mode features the ability to be either a manager, player manager or your own custom player. All of these offer different opportunities for soccer geeks to quench their insatiable thirst for more soccer. And the graphics and presentation are as good as ever. The physics engine new to this year’s game makes a clear distinction from earlier installments top to bottom. Slide tackles look impossibly realistic, and with a little practice your players begin to look like they’re responding to your thoughts, not your fingers. Unfortunately, this hyper-realism comes with a cost. Even long-time fans of the series will initially find the new defending and dribbling mechanics difficult to pick up. These features make the game both delightful and exasperating. The FIFA Soccer 12 is an absolute joy to play, but the game isn’t perfect, and it won’t suit everyone. Still, the fundamentals of the sport are extremely well represented and it would be hard to find a better soccer game.
