   The Canon EOS 5D Mark II is a lightweight digital SLR (single lens reflex) camera that has high-end performance and ergonomics. It has flexible controls to fit all types of lighting conditions and can take shots quickly with optimum results.
   
   The Canon Mark II offers vivid pictures up to 21 megapixels per image. Its Live View feature helps photographers frame their picture well in a glance. Its LCD is accurate and matches calibrated monitors for showing the exact tone and color evaluations of an image.
   
   The Live View LCD is still visible in daylight with its intensified brightness that can be toggled on and off. It also has an anti-reflection coating for high contrast situations. The Live View picture is also essential for taking 1080p High Definition videos at 23.98 frames per second. Sharpness, contrast, color saturation and white balance can also be adjusted for Live View.
   
   The colors are excellent but there can be visible noise in shadows taken at ISO 200 and above.
   
   The Canon EOS 5D Mark II has flexible controls with the help of its thee programmable Total Recall positions C1, C2 and C3.
   
   Each preset can be recall any settings of your preference from sharpness, color, saturation, self-timers, LCD brightness, autofocus, exposure, resolution, file format, white balance, metering and file playback. This helps ready your camera for whatever lighting situations you may encounter outdoors.
   
   For flash photography, the Canon EOS 5D Mark II can smartly distinguish between ambient light and flash. The EXIF will code correctly the light used by the image. Flash exposures are intelligent as well and can adapt well to the configuration of the flash used.
   
   The maximum shutter speed of 1/200 is inefficient for daylight fill-flash uses. The flash takes longer to recycle. The high-speed sync modes seemingly waste flash power and are not practical for everyday use.
   
   Battery life is sufficient with about 1,000 to 1,500 images per charge. It helps if there is a spare battery. But most of the time, one battery is all a photographer will need.
   
   The autofocus feature of the Canon EOS 5D Mark II adds to its versatility. It works in most lighting conditions except for pitch black darkness. There is no AF illuminator but most of the time, there is no need to use it.
   
   The AF System has nine points and you can easily control it with one push of a button. However, unlike Nikon, the all-sensor of the Canon EOS 5D Mark II is not as smart at recognizing facial features such as eyeballs. It will focus at the closest element it can distinguish.
