    • The bad:
      Cheap plastic feel

Lighter but bigger than its predecessor Canon 1000D, the EOS 1100D 18-55mm Kit enters the market as one of the best entry-level dSLR. You may choose from four available colors: black, brown, grey and red.

The Canon EOS1100D has a manageable design and ergonomics. Its controls are east to locate and operate. It provides a tight grip for good measure. If you are not familiar with the specifications of the camera, there is a Feature Guide included in the package which fully explains the different shooting modes and functions. It also works well with both EF and EF-S lenses. Sporting a 2.7 LCD screen and 720p video capability, it is easy to say that it is better than the 1000D.

Some of the upgrades it now offers are the Canon Digital Image Processor and HD video recording. The Canon EOS1100D allows SD card of up to 64GB. The storage capacity is complemented with a good battery life that lets you take around 700 shots. It delivers quality images with its 12.2 megapixels and 9-point autofocus sensor. The 12-megapixel CMOS sensor makes way for detailed shots at low noise levels. Taking photos at its maximum ISO 6400 setting produces tolerable, and even better than most of its entry-level competitors, quality.

The lens is also interchangeable, which is a good thing for those who want to use their reliable old lenses. Its Auto Focus is user-friendly, even for amateurs, while the Manual Focus is easily adaptable. The Canon 1100D allows for easy transfer of files from it directly to the computer. Transfer time is also good. If you are looking for value for money, and you simply want an entry-level camera, then Canon 1100D is the right one for you. It delivers its promises, and remains faithful to the image of its brand. It is designed in a way where quality and functionality meets. The interface is easy to play around with, and the features allow experimentation with photos. Snappers would find this camera a good companion.
