   The Canon EF 50mm f/1.4L USM is the standard and medium telephoto lens for Canon SLR cameras. This is designed with lens that gets rid of astigmatism. This is best for the new entry serious photographers who love shooting at 50mm. This is like a training lens in preparation to a more expensive quality prime lens.
   
   The f/1.8L is also a beginner’s lens and a lot cheaper than the f/1.4L, however, if you like something that would last longer, then the f/1.4L is more durable. Although only the lens mount is metal in the f/1.4L, durability is more guaranteed than that of the f/1. The f/1.4 looks well-built, although, not as sturdy as the L series lens. The f/1.8L has a plastic body and less solid.
   
   Most of the problems involving the f/1.4L is concerning the Micro ultra sonic monitoring that is less tough not like the standard USM. It has a full-time manual focus that lets you focus manually or automatically without any switching needed. Only drawback is that when focusing, the lens zooms in and out. And focusing is a bit sluggish.
   
   The f/1.4L performs well in many different settings. Those who want a natural-looking image prints should buy this lens. Indoors or outdoors, this lens produces pics as your naked eyes can see with the shadows and highlights included but without the extra lights thrown by the flash. This lens is best for low light settings and natural lights.
   
   There is one issue, though; it’s the durability of the Auto Focus. Some of the problems are concerning this area. Well, the lens comes with a warranty. To others, their AF gave up after a year and six months. This lens combines mobility with image quality. The USM is precise although a little slow and noisy than the latest USM.
   
   Impressive photos are created by the larger aperture of 50mm f/1.8L. It is not that pricey if compared with the L series but it has the image quality that can really compete. The sharpness is there and the Bokeh comes out naturally good-looking and is clean. It is also lightweight and can be taken just anywhere like when hiking. There is less threat and less worry also since it isn’t as expensive as the L series lens.
   
   Expert photographers give a lot of compliments to this lens. It is a must-have lens. It is best for indoor and outdoor portraits. It has been a favorite lens by many photo lovers who use it daily. It is like becoming a pro overnight with the help of this lens. Unless it is defective, this lens produces images that won’t need fixing at the Photoshop. It is not of inferior quality compared to the more expensive ones. Only the exterior that is mostly plastic made it inferior but not its image quality.
