Headphones make great sound and the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 is one of them. Normally, headphones are a hit and miss because of two things: comfort and sound. Since headphones are big and bulky, they should be comfortable to wear even for extended periods of time. Another aspect is sound. It should sound great as headphones normally enclosed audio or music in a tight spot direct to your open ears. The Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 does both on a level that is high performance on a mid range type of headphone quality. That is not a bad thing as you get a really quality headphone at the price of more expensive headphone models. Japan’s Audio Technica has been a known fixture in the audio department particularly those worn in your ears. The Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 is from a long line of really good headphones for your listening pleasure. It is lightweight, full sounding and carries an impressive array of structure, craftsmanship and control. To give out the best sound reproduction in your ear, the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 sports a 53mm driver with neodymium magnet systems and CCAW voice coils that is large and angled in an earcup that is padded in soft velvet. Its design incorporates a full open air design, an aluminum honeycomb casing and magnesium frame that is lightweight, hybrid PCOCC / titanium alloy cord and gold plated stereo connector. All of that makes the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 an already impressive headphone to have. As impressive as the technical and hardware aspects of the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700, the most important part of any headphone is the sound. No matter how big and small they are, sound is important. The Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 can reproduce really great sounds in the midrange level. It is full and you can really hear the music and sounds in different genres and using different audio equipment like the iPhone/iPod, laptop and the like. If the midrange level is spot on, a high range response is a hit and miss. Lets just say that it hurts your ears listening using the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 on a high note. Since the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 is an open earphone, except to hear less bass on your music using this headphone. It is responsive but some of the sounds spread out instead of spreading it all to your ear. It is not a design flaw but rather makes the sound more natural and less heavy. Some may like it while some will not. Comfort is also taken note with the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700. Its design makes it a nice fit to your head and ears. You cannot adjust the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 as you like and that the headphone is one cumbersome audio accessory that is a bit ill fitting to the ears. The headphone jack can also cause some fitting problems on such devices like the iPod and that it doesn’t folds nor that it has a carrying case. Like some headphones, the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 is prone to damages incurred from shock and dents. All in all, the Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 is an enjoyable headphone to have when listening to your favorite tunes in private. Serious audiophiles or those wishing for a high performance headphone, this is not your kind of accessory as this is perfectly suited for casual users.
