Astone H200 Go

Astone H200 Go

Astone H200 Go Review

  • 4.3 / 5
    • The good:
Product is durable and looks good in a discrete way; Online streaming is smooth; Quick connectivity and easy access to a great number of Android applications
    • The bad:
The choice of the ‘Froyo’ Android release is really questionable

The Astone H200 Go Full HD Android Smart TV Box is a complete Android Operating device minus the telephone which can be an alternative to the regular and traditional PC. This device was introduced in the market as an Android powered media gate, and has ever since proved to be a favourite among the mobile device users.

The Astone H200 Go is a sleek looking device with a matt plastic body which also comes with textured metal finish. The look is therefore on the glossy side and has an aesthetic appeal to it. In spite of the glossy finish, the Astone H200 Go is quite durable and fits well into the hand with a firm grip – which is useful when moving it around. The overall design is simple and straightforward. The control button is located on the left side of the box which is right next to the SD card slot and USB port. Behind the box lie the regular VGA port AV component, power input and an optical port. On the top part is where the SATA HDD dock is located. This is compatible with Seagate GoFlex 2.4” portable HDD.

The The Astone H200 Go includes a 4 GB internal memory and an ARM Cortex A9 1.0 GHz processor. The only downside to this device is that it uses the Android 2.2, which is ‘Froyo’, and therefore is not the latest in terms of technology. The setup is quite easy and simple, and the Astone H200 media gate gives online access to movies, music and other media-related applications. One has to make the initial video connection via the AV output but that doesn’t hinder with the advantages it offers to its users. Download is easy and smooth without any hindrance when it is internet-enabled. Some of the file containers that are supported by the The Astone H200 Go include: AVI, TRP, WAV, AAC, GIF, TIF and BMP. In addition to this, the video support includes: RealVideo, Xvid, DivX, M-JPEG, and Sorenson Spark.

The best part of this media gate device is that the Android market completely supports it and therefore it is ready to make use of your favorite mobile app out of the many thousands available to download. For example, it has some pre-installed applications like QuickOffice Pro, and “Cut The Rope” – a popular and fun Android game. It also has a 3D accelerator which supports 3D games and a full web browser with Adobe Flash 10.1. This is also beneficial for online streaming. Once the device is unboxed you would find a remote control, 2X AAA batteries, a user’s manual, power adaptor, component and stereo cables. The remote control has limited navigation and is not easy to operate, therefore that brings down the overall efficiency.   The device is overall component and user friendly despite not having the latest software or hardware.
