    The iPod Touch has established itself as one of the best portable media players on the market, starting with the 1st generation which came out in 2007. It has evolved from being just a media player and a digital assistant into a full-fledged multimedia player that can do the web and gaming pretty well.


     


    The latest version includes 2 cameras, a back and front facing camera. The camera can record HD videos (720p) up to 30fps with audio and still photos of 960 by 720 with the back camera and VGA quality stills and video of up to 30fps with the the front camera. The 3.5 display screen is big enough to enjoy gaming, watching videos or surfing the net but still small enough to fit in your pocket.

    The 8GB version of the iPod Touch can store up to 2,000 songs and has 40 hours of audio playback or 7 hours of video playback. It also has a fast charge feature which allows the iPod to reach a full charge in only 4 hours.


     


    It also comes in 32GB and 64GB memory capacity and comes in Black or White.


     


    The 8GB iPod Touch is the most affordable version of the iPod Touch line, although the memory may seem inadequate, performance wise, it still works great and will provide a lot of entertaining hours.


     


    One feature that previous versions of the iPod Touch did not have is FaceTime and this is made possible by the front facing camera (secondary camera). It is possible to have a video call using 3rd party applications such as Yahoo, Skype or Viber. HD recording via the primary camera is also made possible with the back camera (primary camera) and captures HD (720p) videos up to 30fps with audio as well as capture still photos at 960 by 720. The front camera (secondary camera) can capture VGA quality photos as well as video of up to 30fps.


     


    The diagonal 3.5 inch widescreen makes it great for watching movies or tv shows or playing games. It also features a Retina Display. This means that the display is so amazing that individual pixels are unnoticeable, making reading, gaming or watching truly entertaining on the iPod because you get to enjoy sharper images. It is also equipped with LED lighting that has ambient light sensors, responsible for automatically adjusting the brightness of the screen for optimum display and save battery life in the process.


     


    The Apple iPod Touch 8GB runs on the iOS 5 which includes features such as iMessage, Notification Center, Game Center, Twitter, Reminders, Safari, Newstand, and iCloud.
