Apple iPod Classic 160GB Review
The Apple iPod Classic 160GB is definitely made for people who love to listen to music while on the go. It was first released in 2001. There have been 6 generations of the iPod classic released since then. The iPod Classic 160GB was created for people who loved the previous version of the iPod but wanted more storage without spending too much on features they feel they don't need.
Design and Features
The iPod Classic weighs 140 grams only. It can literally fit in your pocket and can be taken anywhere with you. However, don't underestimate this iPod by its size for it can pack a lot of songs, videos and pictures as well, all thanks to its 1.8 inch hard disk with a 160GB internal memory. It can hold up to 40,000 songs, 200 hours of video and 25,000 of photos. With so much memory, you don't need to waste a lot of time figuring out what goes onto your iPod and what gets left behind in your library.
It comes in either silver or black. It has a simple but sleek design with a wider screen as compared to the previous versions. The iPod Classic features a 2.5 inch color LCD with LED backlight and a click wheel for navigation. The new and improved widescreen display makes it very pleasant to watch movies, play games and view the album artwork of the music on your playlist. Looking for a specific music or video is made easy with the click wheel and the Cover Flow feature, you can browse music by album art, genre, playlist and etc. The Cover Flow feature allows you to browse your music library visually, showing you your album artworks that you can browse through, it's easier to look for a song when you can see the album artwork. You also have the option to search for specific titles and artists as well as shuffle the songs in your songs on your playlist.
As for sound quality, as always, Apple delivers. The iPod Classic 160GB has 22 equalizer settings and a user changeable volume limiter and volume normalizer. Although the lack of custom setting is quite disappointing. Now you'd think that the battery life of the iPod Classic would be drained fast, but impressively enough, it has a battery life of up to 36 hours on audio playback and up to 6 hours on video playback. Charging time is also quite fast as it can take only 4 hours to charge it fully. Through the player’s fast charge feature, the battery level can reach 80% in less than 2 hours.
Despite the iPod Classic 160GB being simple as compared to other flashy multimedia players, it is its simplicity that is appealing. It serves its purpose and is a great piece of gadget if you're only after a music and video player that can carry most of the contents of your music library.
