Acer Iconia Tab A700 32GB Review
The Acer Iconia Tab A700 is primarily a home device just like the iPad. This tablet has a 10.1 inch screen and its weight does not make the best kinds of tablets to carry around.
However, this is what one would call a “full-size” tablet. However when seated at home on your couch or in a train for an hour, this tablet would keep you very busy and you wouldn’t get bored even for a single second. The Acer Iconia A700 runs quietly and smoothly. It won’t get so hot while using it. However, if you are going to hold it on one hand for long hours then it is going to be a little bit tiresome. This is because this tablet weighs about 665 grams and holding it with one hand for long hours would prove quite tiresome.
When it comes to the design and build quality of the Acer Iconia A700 tablet, it is just average. The tablet is not very stylish in design and offers just the basic tablet design. The ends are angular plastic plates that are silver in colour. This is unlike many other tablets of the same category where manufacturers opt for smooth edges that are more fingers friendly and easy to hold. The back of this tablet is rubberised so as to enhance grip. Apart from this, the rubberized back improves the quality and makes the tablet look good.
This is unlike other tablets with plastic back cover that look very cheap. However, the design and build quality of this tablet is just average and has nothing really out of the ordinary. The manufacturer would have done better in this sector so as to compete favourably with other big-name Android tablets. The Acer Iconia Tab A700 is more of a practical tablet rather than a beautiful one. It has a flap in one of the edges that covers the micro SD slot. This allows the users to expand the 32GB internal memory to any capacity that they wish. There is also a plastic hole that has been filled just next to the micro SD slot. This is where you would insert the 3G SIM. There is also a micro HDMI video output on one of the edges. At the bottom there is a socket where a power adapter can be plugged in or a micro USB cable.
Unlike many other tablets, this tablet is unique as it accepts the old micro USB cable and when connected to a PC its internal memory will show up as a media drive thus making it very easy to transfer files as you only drag and drop. This tablet uses a 1920 by 1200 pixel display on its 10.1 inch screen. However, this tablet screen does not use the IPS technology that is common with many other tablets and iPad. Some of the other key features notable on this tablet are 9800mAh battery, 1GB RAM, 5MP camera and 1.3GHz quad-core Tegra CPU.
