There are three kinds of conditioners in the market: the antioxidant conditioner that is applied after any process done in the hair, the special conditioner which is for treating the hair with special vitamin or nutrients and the common conditioner which is for daily use. Just like shampooing, conditioning should not be done daily except for specially treated hair. Depending on your type of hair, conditioning can be once or twice a week. Another reminder is that it shouldn’t be applied directly to the roots of the hair. Instead, it should be wiped from the middle to the lowest part of the hair strand.

Hair brushing is a part of the daily hair hygiene. This massages the scalp and keeps the oil from getting stuck to the scalp to spread it throughout the head. Brushing helps in the circulation of the blood on the scalp area. It also activates production of natural oils and improves hair growth. 

Hair cutting is important in removing split ends and damaged part of the hair. It can be done every two months depending on desired style. Otherwise, cutting only the split ends will be good as well.

Scalp massage is undeniably good for any type of hair. It can be done with the use of a rubber massager or the fingertips. Stimulation of blood flow, hair growth, and reducing stress are just some of the benefits of scalp massage.

Thin hair is usually smooth, droopy, soft and sometimes flyaway. It is vulnerable to breakage so it needs shampoos for fine hair. Conditioners should be of lesser amount than what is frequently used for other types. There are products available in the market that can make thin hair look heavy and thick. Thin hair also needs regular trimming to keep it from looking untidy. Drying hair with a blower while combing it into a style will definitely make it appear bouncy and pretty. Anyone with this type of hair must increase the intake of protein-rich foods.

Normal hair is not too fine and not too thick. It is easy to manage and style, has more volume and is accepted as the average hair. A lot of hair cosmetics are made for normal hair type. This kind is stronger than the thin type and the one who wears it has less worries.

Thick hair is the strongest, the wildest, the heaviest and definitely the roughest of all types. It is inflexible to styling and looks course most of the time. Conditioners are unavoidable if this type of hair has to be kept under control. Shampooing the hair can make this type of hair drier so it should not be done more than three times each week while conditioning can be done twice per week. This kind of hair needs no rubbing when drying. It is better to pat it with a towel or just let it dry. Hair brushing might lead to more curl, so, use a big comb instead. Avoid too much styling that will keep dryness to the maximum. Although this type of hair is hard to maintain, treatments and stylish cuts are easy to find.

Assorted Tips for Hair Care

Residues of shampoos, conditioners and other products applied on the hair and scalp can cause troubles. Equal amounts of apple cider vinegar and warm water massaged onto the hair for few minutes can help eliminate these residues. Then rinse it with cool water for a better shine. This cleansing, however, should not be done frequently or it will scrape the necessary oil in the scalp.

Chlorine is an enemy of the scalp. So do not forget to wash your hair after swimming in chlorinated water.

Blow drying should not be done directly to the scalp. Never let hairsprays, hairnets, creams, lotions, or styling gels get too close or directly to the scalp for it may congest the follicles of your hair. If possible, shun the use of electric gadgets on your hair.

Although wearing caps and hats is one of the fascinations of most girls, tight hats, bonnets, caps and other hair accessories actually play a part in bad circulation, seizing the nutrition needed by the hair.

Moisturizers are vital. Dry hair needs moisture, too. Although the scalp can self-produce this moisture, it has to reach the lower part of the hair. With the use of hair moisturizers available in the market, dryness can be treated.

Vitamins for hair are Vitamins A, C, E, B6, B12, Niacin, Amino Acids, Biotin, Iron and Inositol. Dark colored fruits are antioxidants for the hair. Citrus and sweet fruits like watermelon and bananas work for hair growth and should be included in the diet.

Avocado repairs damaged hair and gives natural protection from the damaging effects of the sun. Mix it with a conditioner and apply to the hair. Other fruits that can be used as natural conditioners are banana and mango. Scrambled eggs, milk, honey or mayonnaise can also be applied separately to the hair aside from olive, vegetable or coconut oil. These are natural and economical.
